Your Last Day

Your Last Day
What if you were told this morning that today was to be your last day on earth? How would you spend its passing hours? Whom would you insist on seeing? Would your behavior differ radically from what it usually is?
Someone has wisely said: You should treat every day as if it’s your last one, because one of these days you’re going to be right.”

Separation is negative, companionship is essential!

Separation is negative, companionship is essential!
Some people are lazy while others are workaholics. The lazy person, seeing the pointlessness of running here and there for success, idles away his time and hurts both himself and those who depends on him.
The workaholic is often driven by envy, greed, and a constant desire to stay ahead of everyone else. Both extremes are foolish and irresponsible.

Jesus is Greater than Moses

Jesus is Greater than Moses
For Jews the highest human authority was the high priest. For us Christians, the highest human authorities were God’s messengers, the apostles. Jesus, God’s Messenger and High Priest, is the ultimate authority in the church.

The Test Of Our Religion

The Test Of Our Religion
Imagine that you are making application for heaven. What would you list as your qualifications?
I have always believed in God.
I’m thought of as a religious person.
I have tried to live a good life.
I have been baptized.
I go to church.
I haven’t done anything real bad.
I have friends who will vouch for me.

One Body with Many Parts

One Body with Many Parts
The apostle Paul compares the body of Christ to a human body. Each part has a specific function that is necessary to the body as a whole. The parts are different for a purpose, and in their differences they must work together. Christians must avoid two common errors: (1) being proud of their abilities, or (2) thinking they have nothing to give to the body of believers. Instead of comparing ourselves to one another, we should use our different gifts, together, to spread the Good News of salvation.

Moses & God

I’m sure you know the story of the life of Moses – how he set the children of Israel free and they journeyed to the Promised Land. But allow me to briefly retell it so you can see what God showed me.
Israel was in slavery to Egypt for hundreds of years until God sent Moses to set His people free. Pharaoh released them after God demonstrated His power through ten miracles. The Israelites were not only set free, but they also left with the “wealth of the wicked.” (See Proverbs 13:22.) All the gold and silver!

THE CALL

The Call
God knew you as He knew Jeremiah, long before you were born or even conceived. He thought about you and planned for you. When you feel discouraged or inadequate, remember that God has always thought of you as valuable and that He has a purpose in mind for you.
The prophet Jeremiah was “appointed” by God as “spokesman to the world”. God has a purpose for each Christian, but some people are appointed by God for specific kinds of work.

LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE GAM

LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
Basketball can be played two ways. It can be played with the kind of sportsmanship that is gracious in winning and gracious in losing. Or basketball can be played merely for the win and money. The winning and money are legacies of some pros who have marred the dignity of the game with their tantrums, profanity, official bashing and bitter excuses.

Why Is This So Important

Why Is This So Important
Think of the key world events of the last couple of decades. The fall of the Berlin Wall. The Persian Gulf War. The El Nino weather events. The terrorist destruction of New York’s Twin Towers and attack on the Pentagon. The election of Barak Obama.
